Welcome
Glen Ellyn Runners was founded in 1999 and is the largest running club in the Western Suburbs. Our members are runners of all abilities, from recreational runners to highly competitive road racers. We all share a love of running, a goal of fitness, and enjoy training together. Our club is friendly, supportive, and social.
We offer fun runs, variety of training programs, and social activities.

Come run with us!

March Madness 2012

The March Madness Half Marathon in Cary to some is the official start of the racing season. Each year, the Glen Ellyn Runners make the one hour trip up north to race this hilly course. This year, we had over 70 runners compete. Despite the unusual warm temps, all of us had a great time.

Calling all Guests

Are you curious about the Glen Ellyn Runners? We welcome all guests to give us a try. A guest pass is never needed.
We meet every Sunday at 8am in front of the Gazebo in Glen Ellyn. We have runners of all abilities! All of us run various distances from 3 miles to 20 miles. There will always be someone to run with you.
Come on out join us! We look forward to meeting you.

Exciting news! As our club continues to grow, we are faced with more challenges on how to run the club effectively. To provide the best service to all our members, the Board of Directors voted unanimously to become an affiliated member of the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA).
RRCA is the oldest and largest organization in the US dedicated to distance running. The RRCA has over 1000 member clubs and over 200,000 running club members. We are in the process of obtaining Nonprofit 501(c)3 designation under the RRCA’s Group Exemption. Once approved, this means the Glen Ellyn Runners is an affiliate member of the RRCA. Through the RRCA, we are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
What does this change mean to you? Most of you won’t notice any changes at all. Membership dues will remain the same. All training programs will remain the same. The changes will be on how we operate. What changes you will see are:
• Officers and Board members will be elected by members annually
• Officers will hold positions for 2 years, Board Members 1 year
• Monthly Board Meetings will be open to members
• Coaches and leadership will be certified coaches through RRCA
There are many other benefits you will enjoy as a member of RRCA. In the coming months, we will start announcing many of the benefits you’ll enjoy. I encourage all of you to spend some time on the RRCA website to view the benefits.
